The SK Foundation aims to reduce the effect of this "Digital Divide" by working with schools, universities and other stakeholders to ensure that all students and research workers have access to state-of-the-art technologies when and where they need them, both at home and at our ultramodern cyber technology centers.
Launched as a registered charity in 2011, our aim is to bridge the digital divide by significantly increasing access to ICT for education, and specifically to ensure that every student, researcher in Africa, irrespective of background, should have access to technology for learning.
SK donates 1.5 per cent of its annual profits to the foundation, as well as making a significant contribution in terms of people's time.
About 80 per cent of SK's employees donate money through payroll giving. As of 2011, the value of all this help exceeds $500,000.
